The cruel God of COVID-19 is #evangelical

If you believe the Bible is literally true and divinely inspired, it’s God is mean and vindictive especially the God of the Hebrew Bible aka. “Old Testament.” He is jealous and craves the affection of His people while promising severe punishment on all who do not acknowledge His glory.

I feel compelled (again) as an ex-evangelical to let the non evangelical world in on a little secret. In private, evangelicals are delighted with #COVID-19 because they think God is using it as a tool for revival and of course to judge all the wicked people around the world especially “the gays.”

Evangelicals believe God has caused/allowed (no difference when it comes to omnipotence and sovereignty) for the same reason he causes every natural disaster — His glory! Indeed, according to the Bible, God is uses human pain and suffering to “get the attention” of his creatures. Nothing makes mankind feel more helpless and dependent on God than something beyond their control. God “hardened Pharaoh’s heart” so Pharaoh COULD NOT BELIEVE because God wanted to show off his power. In the New Testament, Paul chides the church in Rome for thinking they as “clay” can tell God, “the Potter” what to do with his creation.

The God of the Bible sole desire is worship from his creatures. And He will get it anyway He can! This pandemic, according to evangelicals, is intended to wake people up to the need to repent and turn to God. Make no mistake, evangelicals revel in human suffering because they see God’s hand behind it. Judgment of any kind on unbelievers vindicates evangelicals.

Let me illustrate. Remember how in, “The Game of Thrones” everybody couldn’t wait for King Joffrey to die because of how evil he was? This is how evangelicals see the world as a collection of King Joffrey’s like liberals, secularists and atheists who go about sinning at will with no fear of consequences. But make no mistake, if you’re an evangelical, “Judgement is coming, sooner than we think!

The God of the Bible is a cruel and merciless God unless you worship him.
